Malt Extract

Malt Extract is a mixture of organic compounds from Malt, used as a culture medium adjunct. It is a syrup manufactured by evaporating some amount of water.

It is formed by condensed unfermented or fermenting infusion of malt, which consists of maltose, dextrins & other dissolved solids. This unfermented infusion of malt is used by brewers in the solutions of water & extract to reconstitute the unfermented infusion for fermentation. Malt Extract is also made from malted barley by crushing of grinding the barley & converted its carbohydrates to sugars.
